Business Basics for Innovators

Business Basics for Innovators (BBFI) is a five-part series of hands-on sessions modeled after The Growth Wheelâ„¢. BBFI assists innovative entrepreneurs like you grow your business. Participants learn to articulate the value their companies offer in terms of benefits, rather than just describing the features of their products or services.


TEC Executives-in-Residence (EIRs) are individuals that have been successful in starting and growing companies. They've learned what works and what doesn't, and they have the industry expertise and connections to help evaluate, and advise entrepreneurs.

Level Up

Level Up offers advanced mentorship and support to growing companies out of startup mode, helping them scale product, technology and teams to the next level.


Preflight workshops and sessions help tech founders take the first steps from idea to startup, by using customer development and lean startup methodologies.

Students to Startups

Students to Startups works with universities and colleges to expose students to startup culture, hands-on experience and connections to our startup community.

TEC Venture Angels

TEC Venture Angels is an investor network aimed at supporting early stage tech companies. Since 2012, both TEC Edmonton and VA Angels have helped companies raise more than $100 million.

Venture Prize

TEC VenturePrize is a province-wide business plan competition open to Alberta companies, entrepreneurs, inventors and post-secondary students. The competition has a total of over $180,000 in prizes and two award categories: Fast Growth for tech based businesses, and a provincial Student Business Plan Competition.
